What is Domain Rating?

Domain Rating (DR) is Ahrefs' score for the overall strength of a website's backlink profile, on a logarithmic scale from 0 to 100. It's calculated purely from the quantity and quality of external links pointing to a domain — the more (and stronger) sites that link to it, the higher its DR.

0–10 Very weak

11–30 Weak

31–50 Average

51–70 Strong

71–90 Very strong

91–100 Elite authority

Is DR the same as Moz's Domain Authority?

No — they're built by different companies using different data and formulas, so the same site can (and usually does) score differently on each. Both are useful as relative, directional signals rather than interchangeable absolute numbers. If you want to compare a domain across both, FujiBit also has a free Moz DA checker.

What counts as a "good" DR?

It depends entirely on your niche — DR is most useful compared against direct competitors, not as an absolute target. That said, DR 30–50 is common for established small-to-mid sites, 50–70 for well-linked mid-size sites, and 70+ is typically reserved for major publishers, platforms, and brands.

Why does this tool only show DR, not backlinks or referring domains?

This checker uses Ahrefs' free public API, which returns Domain Rating only. Backlink counts, referring domains, and organic traffic require Ahrefs' paid Site Explorer API — a separate product this tool doesn't use.
